SNV returns to South Sudan to strengthen capacities and forge meaningful partnerships that transform agri-food, energy, and water sectors, paving the way for sustainable and equitable lives for everyone. After a six-year break due to the 2013 and 2016 crises, which temporarily halted our work, we are back with global expertise in the Humanitarian-Development Nexus and a history of impactful programmes.
Our journey in South Sudan began in 2005 after the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. From 2005 to 2016, our programmes inspired significant change in governance, agriculture, livelihoods, community development, and infrastructure.
Highlighted programmes

Our renewed commitment
SNV’s return marks renewed dedication to equitable and sustainable development. In 2025, operations will start in Torit, Yambio, and Juba under the PCAV GIZ/SNV EU-funded project, focusing on climate-resilient value chains and local capacity building.
Our return to South Sudan marks not just a continuation of previous efforts but the start of a bold new chapter. We are eager to collaborate with government leaders, development partners, private sector stakeholders, and local communities to foster a South Sudan that thrives.
