  • Abstract

Poultry farming presents an accessible opportunity for smallholder farmers in Cambodia to improve livelihoods. However, optimizing profits requires more than just good technical practices, it also demands sound financial literacy. In this learning brief, SNV presents lessons from the Financial Literacy for Poultry Production manual, developed under the Climate Resilient Maize and Poultry Value Chains in Cambodia project, funded by ADB.

Through real-life case studies, the manual introduces core financial concepts such as budgeting, record-keeping, cost-benefit analysis, and profitability planning, integrated with technical poultry practices. The goal is to equip farmers with the tools to make informed decisions, manage risks, and improve long-term productivity and income. This dual focus is essential for building both resilience and competitiveness in Cambodia’s poultry sector.
